egg
So these are all my eggs. Eggs given proudly to us by our precious Zulu ladies of the coop. Eggs laid with love and often a whole lot of noise that comes with the whole egg laying spectacular in our coop. No, really - it is a raucous show that plays out and the lovely family 4 homes down get to hear about it too.
The egg.. boiled, scrambled, fried, poached, omletted, baked in all our bakes. The egg that gives us cracking good breakfasts, lunch and even dinners. (there are even inbetween snacks - we could quite easily become eggy-hobbits!)
Did you know that the antioxidants in egg yolks help protect you eyes against the harmful UV rays or that the yolk is said to have one of the few natural sources of choline that stimulates brain development? Well now you know - I read that somewhere......
9 essential amino acids... that's what you get from just one egg!
Our home is never short of eggs. And when our Zulu girls decide to go on holiday all-together at-the-same-time (like they are doing at this very moment!) then we have the Fly's who send us trays overflowing with these perfectly molded deliciousness in a shell.
I feel and egg recipe egg-travaganza coming on.
Oh and I see a whole lot of eyebrow raising by my ever loving and totally understanding and supportive Rob happening too.
Have an egg-cellent weekend!

Yarn Along..... Gnome-lets
It's been awhile since I posted a knit project! For the last couple of months I have been working on something in secret. I know that my sister keeps a close eye on our updates so sharing that project (for now) will just have to wait a little while longer. But, what I can share is that - the above hush-hush project is for a little baby boy growing all snug in safe in her belly! Yes, friends this ol' gal is going to be an aunty again!! I am so super excited! As soon as I can I will share more!
Now, back to this project. The Gnome-lets for our little god-daughter who will be turning one next month.
While perusing through Ravelry this weekend I found this Gnome-Baby pattern on the lovely Elizabeth's account and knew that these would be perfect for our little princess!
I of course started immediately. I love how fast it is to whip just one up. So I've decided to make one in each of the colours of left over hand-me-down acrylics that Rob's Mum sent my way. I should be able to get about seven little gnomes out of the left overs by the weekend! A gnome for each day of the week!
Garren asked me who I was knitting the little dolls for and why I was taking a photo of them last night. When I told him that it was for our Link-up today he begged to be part of it too. A red eye-mask he says. I cant wait to see how it turns out!

sunshine in a bath
Just out of the decorator! Dehydrated oranges that is... I have never dried them out before. But when one has way to many oranges on hand. One has to get creative - right?
As they came out Garren had to try one. He seems to be my most loyal tester and taster of all things hocus pocus in the kitchen. And bless - him he loves them! So, the demands have been made that they will be added to his packed school lunch box for the week!
But of course I did have other things in mind for these golden sunshine treasures.
I make up a batch of homemade bath salts weekly for myself. It really is much better than any store bought stuff. I love that Epsom Salts (the base of my mix) can be thrown in just by itself and still give you all the added goodness. There are times when we have been too busy to make up a special mix or we have gotten to the end of the month and there isn't much to add from the cupboard (end-of-the-month-salty-crack-senario). But today we have citrusy happy fun!
Sunshine Bath Mix
1 box Epsom Salts
20 drops Bergamot EO
10 drops Geranium EO
5 drops Jasmin EO
Dehydrated Oranges
Mix them all up and bottle. Use a cup full of heavenly devine sunshine in a warm bath whenever you need a little pick-me-up!
I know Rob's gonna be raisin that one eyebrow of his at me once again when he sees the floating bits of oranges in our next bath - how he puts up with me heaven alone only knows. But I know this for certain. He is going to love it!!
Happy Sunshine Bathing.
