The Father and His Day.

Firstly let me start off by wishing all the Dad’s out there a very Happy Father’s Day!

It’s been awhile since I’ve updated the blog. When its cold, hibernating weather I find we tend to gravitate towards more indoor kind of activities and with the cold spell we had over the past couple of weeks it didn't make for much picture taking let alone any form of decent internet signal to communicate with.

We spent our Father’s Day celebrating the things that the Father of the Home likes best. Gardening… and Eating… and spending time together. The weather was perfect for all of the above. The new Veggie Garden is coming along better than we had hoped - especially for this time of the year. We have had our first spinach harvest which was absolutely delicious with Sunday roast. Every time I meander through to take a peek I look at all those little stones and keep thinking… oh my – this will take years to sort through and years to get a handle on all those weeds too. Yet, at the same time remind myself how very blessed we are to be able to do this. To have a piece of rough land.. to grow our own greens.

We did our weekly shopping this morning and we usually add a couple of family sized butternuts to the trolley but this week Rob and I just couldn't bring ourselves to get them. Its just best we dont buy and support harvests like that. We have planted from seed and they are just beginning to flower so that's a good sign that soon we will have our very own. Sweet potatoes and Madumbis will be another luxury veggie that we will be growing too. I cant wait. But right now, its a patience game… Me having patience for the right season. All in good time – right? Winter Solstice is just around the corner. I look forward to welcoming the light half of our year back.

The boys are looking forward to the week ahead. Josh writes his last two exams and both Garren and he will end their second school term for the year. The winter break will be greatly appreciated. Not only for them, but for me too.. I get to sleep in a few extra minutes in the morning. *insert-sly-smile-here*.
I blame it on our growing belly and a cold winter this year as I am usually a morning person but this year there seems to be an exception.

I do hope you spoilt that Father of your Home with much love. Have a blessed new week ahead!

The Hare, some Tortoises and a couple of Narrators.

Garren had his “Lectricity Day” or as the rest of the world would call it. Literacy Day. I am loathed to add anything more really. The pictures do speak for themselves.
